  Here we go again!

On my way back to NJ for Yom Kippur (did I spell it right?). Unfortunately, I am missing two birthday celebrations in DC (high school buddy Jenna Marroquin & classmate Joe Smail). Happy birthday to the two of you. I'm updating this blog via pager on my way to DC. Melissa is driving, so I get to just sit back and enjoy the ride. As we approach the great Oil & Petrochemical Refinery State (prize for the 1st to identify that reference!), I am reminded how wonderful our US highway system is, and that it's great
that we can appreciate our god-given right to Sbarro pizza, Starbucks, and Bob's Big Boy. Last time I was here, I watched Jersey Girl and Garden State. What's left? Let the Odyssey begin!

  Volley

Yesterday (ok- its technically 2 days ago) was Rosh haShana- which brings me to NJ to visit with Melissa's family and celebrate the new year. However, a bizzare series of curious events (ok- it was more the result of a particular person's stubbornness) necessitated me spending friday (10-4) in DC. Wanting to spend the weekend in NJ with melissa, I decided it was worth the extra 8 hours in the car.
Here I am.

I've been hearing a lot lately about this free iPod thing going around, but I suppose I dismissed it as a pyramid scam (Primerica, Amway, QuickStar, etc.). Then I hear from this guy Chris that I used to work with. He actually got a free iPod from this site. ( http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=707519 ). Basically, you sign up for a free trial of AOL, Columbia House, or Infone (which I absolutely LOVE-- will explain). Then you tell a couple people about it (which I am now doing). Then (chris promises me) you get a free iPod!

The Infone deal is probably the best. I use this service practically every day. With my cell phone, calling 411 (information) costs $1.25. Infone costs less (i think about 80 cents) and has way more features. If you get lost, you can call and they will give you directions. I once called because I was looking for a theater in the area playing "Farenheit 9/11". They were able to tell me which theater, the costs, showtimes, movie info, and give me directions to the theater. Infone is ingenious! And if I had called information (411), it would have cost more. Infone is also giving out $10 Amazon.com credits to people who sign up-- so really you can't lose.

Starting this week, you can upload your address book from your computer to Infone, and if you forget someone's address or phone number, you just call them and they'll look it up in your address book!

I sound like I'm on commission (i'm not)-- but honestly, even if you don't use the free iPod thing, Infone rocks!

HISTORYFrankPAdams.com started in 1996, just as the internet was catching on in the 'mainstream'. Originally, the site was hosted on the Geocities and Angelfire networks and included personal information as well as some resources for the Deaf community. As the need for Deaf community information grew, the site splintered into a personal site (this one), and a Deaf community portal (DeafSpot.net). Although this site existed long before the coining of the term weblog or "blog", the backward-chronological sequence, dated entries, and narration style is typical of "blogs."

WHO IS FRANK ?That's a complex question. Really, who are any of us? Let's see, I was born in 1978 in Boston/Westwood, MA. Lived there until age 14 when I moved to Reston, VA where I attended high school at South Lakes. I then attended college at EKU in Kentucky. After returning to Hull, MA for a while, I moved to DC to enter the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Gallaudet University.
I also manage DeafSpot.net, have a mother, father, stepfather, 2 sisters, a niece, and a fiance. I suppose 'who i am' is a little different for everyone who knows me.
