I found this great clip of a world where accessibility is turned on it's head. May actually resonate with those who don't see a need for the ADA. It's supposed to be an ad for an energy company in France, but the point is clear.

Danon Gale was arrested, beaten, and tasered by police for allegedly stealing a salad from Chuck-E-Cheese. Gale later produced a recipt showing he had paid for the salad. OUCH! story here. You can't make this stuff up! As a former employee of this company, I hope the manager is fired and Gale gets all the salad he wants for the rest of his life!

The American Psychological Association (APA) Conference was this past week. We presented our poster on Advocacy & Deaf Mental Health Professionals, and handed out some CDs with additional information. (Top row: Frank Adams, Marina Simon, Nadine Sutton, Dr. Virginia Gutman; Bottom Row: Erin McLaughlin, Tracy Durham)

Also, I developed the DeafSpot.net Toolbar. If you plan to shop online anyway, please download this toolbar and use the shopping feature when you shop online-- it will help support DeafSpot, and will not cost you anything at all. It also blocks annoying pop-ups and has some other cool features.

This coming weekend is the "Woo Hoo! Ghetto Party." If I somehow neglected to invite you, please shoot me an email and I will get an invitation out to you via evite.

And have you heard what Pat Robertson said??? Check it out.

Guess-The-Google - Fun Game! Although it ultimately becomes one of typing speed and accuracy. Essentially, it works like this: 20 images come up. You have to guess what Google search term resulted in those image results.
It becomes suprisingly addictive, but a glance at the Top Scores list shows that you'd have to be get every one within a second with no typos to have a chance at a top score.

Happy Birthday to Me! Today I turn 27 years old. Yay! Although the traditional significance of this birthday seems to have escaped me at the moment, I'm sure there is something. I know age 16 represents the introduction to tobacco and the armed services. Age 17 is the age at which one is able to see 'R' rated films. 18 brings with it visions of 'adulthood' and independence (at least from a legal perspective). 21 is of course when alcoholism is permitted out in the open, and the quarter-century mark typically brings with it a happy reduction in auto insurance premiums. But I am 27. Word is that Esquire magazine once deemed age 27 the point at which a woman reaches her 'peak'. But again, this does not apply to me. A quick Google search uncovers the significance of year 27... for this is the year I will outlive Jimi Hendrix and Reggie Lewis. Oh... and I got a new bike from Melissa.

So... I heard they were going to make a movie of The DaVinci Code and I was afraid. I heard it would star Tom Hanks, and I was very afraid. Now... the worst. They will apparently remove references to religion, in order to appease the Vatican. Huh? How is this even possible? What would be left?

This is all that is left of my former stomping grounds. The Chesapeake
Bagel Bakery that I worked at from 1992-1996 is being converted to an
Asian Cafe. Cue the music Madonna... "This used to be my playground...
Used to be." Ginny, John O'Shea... I'm sorry you had to see this ;)

Yes, I am a dork. I admit it- I went to the Engadget.com meetup where gadget geeks from the entire DC area got together and whipped out their battery-operated gizmos.

There are more photos from the meetup on the engadget site.

Is that really me on the far right? Where is my hair?

Just ran the Sunrise 5k in Herndon with Iris. Finished moments ago at
31minutes, 30 seconds, an improvement of a few seconds from my last (and only previous) race. We are now taking advantage of Starbucks' AC! Race results here. Ouch!

Some woman came up to me and asked for a sip of my green-tea frappachino to see if she liked it before ordering one.... huh??? Those who know me well should appreciate that one. FYI: don't order it.... green, yes... tea, not so much.

Something odd is going on. If I post photos using my flickr account, it
seems to erase blogger-mobile posts. Hmmmmm....

HISTORYFrankPAdams.com started in 1996, just as the internet was catching on in the 'mainstream'. Originally, the site was hosted on the Geocities and Angelfire networks and included personal information as well as some resources for the Deaf community. As the need for Deaf community information grew, the site splintered into a personal site (this one), and a Deaf community portal (DeafSpot.net). Although this site existed long before the coining of the term weblog or "blog", the backward-chronological sequence, dated entries, and narration style is typical of "blogs."

WHO IS FRANK ?That's a complex question. Really, who are any of us? Let's see, I was born in 1978 in Boston/Westwood, MA. Lived there until age 14 when I moved to Reston, VA where I attended high school at South Lakes. I then attended college at EKU in Kentucky. After returning to Hull, MA for a while, I moved to DC to enter the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Gallaudet University.
I also manage DeafSpot.net, have a mother, father, stepfather, 2 sisters, a niece, and a fiance. I suppose 'who i am' is a little different for everyone who knows me.
